HENDERSON, Nev. – The Coastal Carolina University men's golf team shot a 10-over 298 in Wednesday's final round at the Lake Las Vegas Intercollegiate. The Chants completed play with a three-day total 885 (290-297-298) to finish 12th.
Tyler Gray was the Chanticleer leader throughout the event and had his second two-under round in Wednesday's action. He finished play tied for 16th with a two-under 214 (74-70-70).
Connor Newton completed a solid three-day effort with a two-over 74 on Wednesday. His opening-round 68 was the Chants' best round of the tournament and Newton finished tied for 32nd with a two-over 218 (68-76-74).
Seth Taylor struggled in the third round with a seven-over 79 and he finished tied for 54th with a nine-over 225 (72-74-79).
Trey Crenshaw had his best round of the event with a three-over 75 in the third round. He completed play tied for 72nd with a 14-over 230 (76-79-75).
Luke Nelson finished 81st after shooting a 22-over 238 (80-77-81).
Garrett Cooper, playing as an individual, finished tied for 45th after completing the tourney with a seven-over 223 (74-72-77).
West Virginia pulled away from the field to win the event with a 28-under 836. Sun Belt member Little Rock finished second at 17-under 847. UAB and Oregon State tied for third, each finishing 13-under 851. Utah was fifth at nine-under 855.
Kentucky led the second five with a six-under 858. Another Sun Belt member Arkansas State finished seventh with a two-over 866, followed by St. Mary's (+6, 870), High Point (+12, 876), and Michigan (+13, 877).
Louisiana finished 11th at 18-over 880. Tied with the Chants is Kansas City at 21-over 885. Georgia State (+35, 899), and Rocky Mountain College (+50, 914) complete the field.
The Chants will stay out west for a few more days as they play at the Desert Mountain Collegiate March 5-6, at the Desert Mountain Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona.
