Parker Named a Candidate for 2022 Senior CLASS Award

Chant is one of 30 baseball student-athletes recognized
OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Coastal Carolina baseball's Nick Parker was one of 30 NCAA baseball student-athletes selected as candidates for the 2022 Senior CLASS Award for excelling both on and off the field.
A four-year member of the Coastal baseball team, Parker has started in five games this season and is 0-1 with a 4.68 ERA. He has struck out 22 batters over 25.0 innings and has recorded two quality starts on the mound this year.
Parker, who is a team leader for the Chanticleers in the clubhouse, made his way from a freshman walk-on to the Opening Day starter in his senior season. Over his three-plus years on the mound at CCU, he has pitched in 39 games, starting 30 contests. He is 7-7 with a 4.98 ERA and has a 2:1 strikeout to walk ratio with 123 strikeouts to 60 walks.
In the classroom, Parker carries a 3.74 GPA as he works towards a degree in business management. He has been named to each of the Dean's List, President's List, and SBC Commissioner's List three times.
While at Coastal Carolina, Parker has volunteered with the Grand Strand Miracle League, Caring for Kindergartners, and Adopt a Chant program, as well as helping families in need at Christmas.
To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior or graduate student and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character, and competition. The complete list of candidates follows this release.
An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School®, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.
The 30 candidates will be narrowed to 10 finalists later in the season, and those 10 names will be placed on the official ballot. Ballots will be distributed through a nationwide voting system to media, coaches, and fans, who will select one candidate who best exemplifies excellence in the four C's of community, classroom, character, and competition.
The Senior CLASS Award winner will be announced during the 2022 College World Series in June.
