CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina baseball team will continue its eight-game road trip this weekend in a three-game Sun Belt Conference series on the road at No. 9/20 nationally-ranked Texas State in San Marcos, Texas.

ABOUT THE CHANTS
• Coastal Carolina enters the Sun Belt Conference series at Texas State this weekend (March 25-27) at 12-7-1 overall and 1-1-1 in Sun Belt Conference play.
• The Chanticleers are coming off their first road win of the season, a 16-7 win over No. 20 Clemson (March 22) on Tuesday night.
• Coastal has been on fire as of late at the plate offensively, scoring a season-high 17 runs last Sunday versus ULM (March 20) and then turning around and posting 16 runs at Clemson (March 22) on Tuesday.
• The CCU offense is hitting .285 with 145 runs scored so far this season, including driving in 131 RBIs overall.
• The Chants rank in the top-15 in all of NCAA D1 in sacrifice bunts (eighth) and sacrifice flies (11th), and lead the Sun Belt in on-base percentage at .410, base on balls (108), and hit-by-pitch (35) on the year.
• Over the last four games, CCU's offense is hitting .348 with a .541 slugging percentage and a .459 on-base percentage. The Chants have scored 44 runs on 47 hits and tallied 43 RBIs.
• The Coastal pitching staff has posted a 4.47 ERA on the season and has struck out 180 hitters compared to just 80 walks over 173.0 innings pitched on the season.
ABOUT THE BOBCATS
• Texas State comes into the weekend at 18-4 overall and 3-0 in Sun Belt Conference play having gone on the road to sweep Arkansas State last weekend (March 18-20).
• The Bobcats are ranked in all six national top-25 polls this week and have recorded three wins over top-15 ranked teams this season with two wins on the road at then-No. 11 Arizona (March 5-6) and a road win at then-No. 1 Texas (March 9).
• Texas State has done it with both pitching and hitting this year, as the Bobcats rank second in the conference and 13th nationally in ERA at 3.02 but also lead the Sun Belt in runs scored with 164 on the year.
ALL-TIME SERIES HISTORY
• The Chanticleers are 8-3 all-time versus the Bobcats, including going 7-2 in Sun Belt regular-season conference play.
• Coastal has won each of the last seven meetings between the two teams, including a three-game series sweep in Conway, S.C. last year and a 13-4 first-round win over the Bobcats in the 2019 Sun Belt Conference Baseball Championship Tournament, won by Coastal.
ROAD GAUNTLET
• With Tuesday's road contest at Clemson (March 22), the Chanticleers opened up an eight-game road trip which will see Coastal play at Clemson, Texas State (March 25-27), Wake Forest (March 30), and Arkansas State (April 1-3).
• The Chanticleers are 1-4 on the road so far this season and 1-0 on the current road trip with a 16-7 win over the No. 20 Tigers on Tuesday.
LUCKY SEVEN
• Coastal Carolina enters the weekend conference series with Texas State on a seven-game winning streak over the Bobcats.
• However, all seven of the Chants' wins in the current winning streak have come at home inside Springs Brooks Stadium in Conway, S.C., including a 13-4 first-round win over the Bobcats in the 2019 Sun Belt Conference Baseball Championship Tournament.
TATERS IN TEXAS
• Fans can expect to see a few home runs leave the park this weekend at Bobcat Ballpark, as the Bobcats and Chanticleers are ranked second and third overall in the Sun Belt in home runs.
• Coastal ranks third in the SBC with 20 home runs this season.
• Texas State is second in the Sun Belt with 22 long balls this year.
• Both teams are averaging 1.00 home run per game entering play this weekend.
SUN BELT CONFERENCE PLAY
• The Chanticleers immediately turned heads in the Sun Belt Conference in their first season in the league in 2017, going 22-7-1 in conference play to win both the Sun Belt Conference East Division and Regular-Season Championships.
• Coastal went on to repeat in 2018 and added the Sun Belt Conference Tournament Championship title, posting a 23-7 regular-season conference record along the way.
• Despite slipping to 15-13 in conference play and finishing fifth in the regular-season standings in 2019, the Chanticleers ran through the Sun Belt Conference Tournament to repeat as champions.
• After 2020 was canceled, the Chants had their worst conference season in over 25 years in 2021, finishing the conference regular-season slate at 9-12 overall.
OFFENSIVE BREAKOUT
• After hitting just .193 and scoring just 33 runs on 47 base hits over eight games from March 4-13, the Chanticleers' offense broke out the bats over the last four games versus ULM (March 18-20) and at Clemson (March 22).
• In the three-game Sun Belt Conference series last weekend versus the Warhawks, the Chants hit .347 (33-for-95) with 28 runs and 27 RBIs on 33 total hits.
• Versus Clemson, the Chants posted a 10-run first inning and hit .350 with two home runs, two doubles, 14 total base hits, and 16 RBIs.
• The Chanticleers scored a season-high 17 runs on a season-high 19 hits in the Sunday tie versus ULM and followed that up with 16 runs on 14 hits in the win at No. 20 Clemson on Tuesday.
• Over the last four games, as a team the Chants are hitting .348 with six home runs, a triple, six doubles, 43 RBIs, and 44 runs scored, an average of 11 runs per contest.
POWER OF THE 'PEN
• The Chanticleers' bullpen has been really good in CCU's 12 wins this season.
• Over the Chants' 12 wins, the bullpen is 8-0 with five saves and a 3.16 ERA.
• The bullpen arms have struck out 56 hitters compared to just 27 walks over 51.1 innings of relief and has held the opponents to a .221 batting average in those wins.
• However, in the seven losses the bullpen is 0-5 with a 7.48 ERA having allowed 18 earned runs over 21.2 innings pitched with 22 strikeouts, 17 walks, and a .375 opponent batting average.
DOUBLE-TROUBLE
• The Chants' defense has turned 18 double plays already this season, which leads the Sun Belt Conference and ranks 15th nationally.
