PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. – The Coastal Carolina University men's golf team shot a 13-over 301 in Monday's final round   of The Hayt Invitational at the Sawgrass Country Club in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., to finish the event 14th with a three-round total of 898 (302-295-301).
 
Seth Taylor had the low round of the day for the Chants firing a two-under 70 (35-35) in the final round. After a slow start, Taylor finished the day with four birdies, including consecutive birdies on holes No. 7-9. He finished the final 12 holes of his round in four-under par fashion and finished with a one-over 217 (74-73-70), good enough for a tie for 10th place.
 
Tyler Gray shot a four-over 76 in the final round to finish the event tied for 17th with a three-over 219 (74-69-76). Connor Newton shot a 16-over 232 (77-75-80) to finish tied for 70th, while Garrett Cooper was just one shot back of Newton with a 17-over 233 (80-78-75) to finish tied for 72nd.
 
Luke Nelson and Viktor Olund both finished tied for 78th after each carded a 21-over 237.
 
North Florida and Charlotte were the only teams under par with the host UNF winning the event at four-under 860 and Charlotte finishing just one stroke back with a three-under 861. FGCU finished third at four-over 868, while Liberty (+8, 872) finished fourth, and Tennessee fifth (+13, 877).
 
Louisville led off the next five at 15-over 877, followed by LSU (+18, 882), Georgia Southern (+19, 883), Arkansas State (+25, 889), and UCF (+28, 892).
 
Rounding out the field were UAB (+29, 893), Jacksonville (+30, 894), and North Texas (+31, 895) with Navy (+108, 972) following CCU.
 
The Chants will have one more tune-up before the 2022 Sun Belt Conference Men's Golf Championship when they play in the Lewis Chitengwa Invitational at the Birdwood Golf Club in Charlottesville, Va., scheduled for April 11-12.
