WALLACE, N.C. – The Coastal Carolina University women's golf team shot a 27-over 603 (304-299) during the first two rounds on the opening day of the River Landing Classic on Monday, in Wallace, N.C.
The par-72, 6,026-yard course played difficult for the first two rounds as none of the 14 participating teams were able to break par and has the Chants going into Tuesday's final round tied for 10th place.
Freshman
Sara Sarrion is the Chants' clubhouse leader with a four-over 148 (78-70) after two rounds. Her two-under 70 in the second round was a team-best on the day and has her tied for 18th.
Jenjira Jinangkul finished with a seven-over 151 (74-77) and has her tied for 34th.
Tiffany Arafi is just three strokes behind Jinangkul after firing a 10-over 154 (75-79) and is tied for 45th.
Caitlin Evans-Brand and
Sophia Carlsen carded identical 11-over 155 scores. Evans-Brand picked up her score with rounds of 77-78, while Carlsen shot an 81 in the morning round but turned that around with a 74 in the afternoon. They are tied at 55th.
Maika Llarena is playing the two-day event as an individual and showed tremendous improvement from her morning round where she shot an 83 to the 76 she turned in during the afternoon. She has a two-round score of 15-over 159 and is tied for 71st.
