Chants Earn Home Win Over Warhawks

CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina women's tennis team picked up a 4-1 victory over the ULM Warhawks in a Sun Belt Conference match on Friday at the Stevens Tennis Complex.
 
In doubles play, the Chants started strong with a pair of victories.  On court two, Anna Babayan and Megan Hopton cruised to a 6-2 win over Jimena Garbino and Alessandra Anghel.  In the top flight, Victoire De Samucewicz and Jesse Hollins doubled up Giovanna Periera and Madalina Grigoriu 6-3, which secured the doubles point.

During singles action, Coastal Carolina maintained the momentum as Hopton won the first 10 games of her match en route to a 6-0, 6-1 win over Garbino on court four.  Hollins followed suit with a solid 6-3, 6-3 victory on court six against Daniela Hernandez.
 
Babayan clinched the overall match for the Chanticleers on court five by defeating Grigoriu 6-2, 7-6 (10-8), providing the final margin of 4-1.
 
Next up for Coastal Carolina (9-7, 5-2 SBC) is another Sun Belt Conference showdown at home, this time against Louisiana on Sunday, April 3, at 10 a.m. ET.
