CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina men's tennis team played host to the Georgia State Panthers on Saturday in a Sun Belt Conference tilt, where the Chants fell to the Panthers 4-3.
 
Before the start of Saturday's Sun Belt Conference men's tennis match between Coastal Carolina and the Georgia State Panthers, five seniors – Federico Garnier, Diego Giraldo, Bastien Huon, Niccolo Rossi, and Daiki Tanabe – were recognized by the men's tennis program.
 
During doubles action, CCU dropped a couple of tightly-contested matches.  Kevin Huynh and Harvey Maughan edged Steve Mundt and Carlos Berna Ruiz 6-4 on court two, while Diego Padilha and Patrick Lazo held off Rossi and Huon by an identical 6-4 score.
 
In singles play, the men in teal picked up three victories in the first five matches, beginning with Tanabe, who defeated Kevin Huynh 6-0, 7-6 (7-3) on court four.  Giraldo earned a 6-3, 7-5 straight-set victory in the third flight over Vazha Shubladze, followed by Huon's 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 win in the top flight over Andrei Duarte, which tied the overall match at three.
 
It all came down to court five, where Rossi battled Harvey Maughan in the decisive match, where Maughan edged Rossi 6-7, 6-2, 6-2.
 
Next up for the Chants (9-10, 2-3 SBC) is a non-conference road match at South Carolina State on Friday, April 8, at 1 p.m. ET.
