CHANTS' LAST TIME OUT
CCU hosted ULM on April 14-15 at St. John Stadium. The schedule was originally adjusted for the Easter holiday but then was adjusted once more for severe weather in the Conway/Myrtle Beach area on Saturday.
Friday saw the Chanticleers fall in six innings to the Warhawks, 11-3. Coastal dropped both games on Saturday, as ULM took game one 2-0 before taking game two 6-3.
Makiya Thomas recorded back-to-back home runs for the Chanticleers in game two of the Saturday doubleheader. For the weekend, Thomas finished with a .375 batting average, .500 OBP, and a 1.125 slugging percentage. The Tacoma, Washington native saw eight at-bats in three games, where she tallied three runs, three hits, two RBIs, two home runs, and drew two walks.
PANTHERS' LAST TIME OUT
GSU faced in-town foe Georgia Tech for a midweek matchup on Wednesday, falling to the Yellow Jackets 3-0 in Atlanta.
Georgia State's Bailee Richardson sent a double to the wall, which put her and Emily Brown in scoring position early for the Panthers but GSU would leave both runners on.
Julia Allen (1-1) started in the circle for the Panthers for only the fourth time this season. She pitched four innings before Hallie Adams (4-9) was brought in, where she only allowed two hits and no runs in three innings. Allen took her first loss for Georgia State.
SERIES HISTORY
Coastal Carolina and Georgia State first met on April 13, 1990 – a 4-2 loss in a neutral site contest. The two teams later met up 24 years later on March 14, 2014, which was a 2-0 victory for CCU.
Most recently, CCU and GSU met in a non-conference matchup during the Bubly Invitational hosted by then-No. 4 Florida. The Panthers walked away with a 3-2 victory over the Chanticleers.
