TROY, Ala. – In a back-and-forth battle, the Coastal Carolina women's tennis team opened up a two-match road trip with a 4-3 Sun Belt Conference win over the Troy Trojans on Saturday in Troy, Ala.
 
The Trojans got on the scoreboard first with victories in two of the three doubles matches.  Anna Babayan and Megan Hopton were the lone victors for the Chants in that portion of the contest, picking up a solid 6-2 win over Olivia Elliott and Franziska Ahrend on court two.
 
When the match moved to singles play, the momentum shifted.  Facing a 2-0 match deficit, the Chants answered back beginning with Babayan's 6-1, 6-1 win on court five.  Victoire De Samucewicz followed suit with a 6-2, 7-5 straight-set victory in the top flight, which tied the overall match at 2-2.  Jesse Hollins added a 7-6 (7-5), 7-5 win over Chiara Desia Dabarno on court six.
 
With the overall match deadlocked at three, all attention turned to court four, where Coastal's Hopton battled Elliott.  When the dust settled, Hopton emerged with a 6-3, 2-6, 7-6 (7-5) triumph and capped off a thrilling comeback win for CCU.
 
There will be a quick turnaround for Coastal Carolina (12-7, 7-2 SBC), as the Chants will visit South Alabama for a 10 a.m. ET match on Sunday.
