Four Chants Named to Women's Golf All-Sun Belt Teams

Arafi leads way with her third all-conference honor
NEW ORLEANS – Coastal Carolina University women's golfers Tiffany Arafi, Sara Sarrion, Sophia Carlsen, and Caitlin Evans-Brand have been named to the 2022 All-Sun Belt Conference Women's Golf Teams released by the conference office Thursday morning.
Arafi was named to the All-Sun Belt first team, while Sarrion, Carlsen, and Evans-Brand all earned a spot on the second team.
Arafi, who was also named to the 2022 Sun Belt Conference Women's Golf All-Tournament Team, completed a record-breaking season for the Chanticleers. She won a Sun Belt-best three individual titles, had four top-five finishes, and four top-10 finishes. She had five rounds of scoring in the 60's and she had 12 rounds of par or better scoring, while finishing the season with a team-best 73.46 scoring average, which was also the third-best scoring average in the conference.
She shot a program-record round of 64 at both the Buccaneer Classic and the Evie Odom Invitational. Her 15-under 201 at the Buccaneer Classic was a program record as was her 36-hole 132 score at the Buccaneer Classic.
Along with her win at the Buccaneer Classic, she also finished first at The Club at Olde Stone Intercollegiate and the Golfweek/Any Given Tuesday Invitational. It is her third All-Sun Belt honor and first time she has been named to the first team.
Sarrion, who had one of the top freshman seasons in program history, was named second-team All-Sun Belt. She played in all 11 matches and finished the season with a 74.90 scoring average, which was eighth-best in the Sun Belt and the third-best scoring average among all conference freshmen.
She had two top-10 finishes and another four finishes among the top-20 tournament scorers. She shot a single-round 69 at both the Buccaneer Classic and at the Golfweek/Any Given Tuesday Invitational, in which she also finished tied for ninth at both events, a career-best.
Along with her two rounds of scoring in the 60's, Sarrion also had another eight rounds of par-or better-scoring.
Carlsen received second-team all-conference honors for the second consecutive season. She played in each of the season's 11 events and finished the year with a 75.06 scoring average. She had one top-five finish and three top-20 finishes. She also had a round in the 60's and another three rounds of par-or-better scoring.
She was the top CCU finisher at the 2022 Sun Belt Conference Women's Golf Championship after firing a six-over 222 to finish the event tied for fourth and was named to the all-tournament team to join teammate Arafi on the team.
Evans-Brand received second-team honors, marking the first all-conference nod in her career. She finished the season with a 75.18 scoring average after appearing in each of the 11 events on the season. She collected one round in the 60's and added another three rounds of par-or-better scoring.
The senior shot a season-best round of 68 at the Buccaneer Classic where she also carded a career-best seven-under, 209, to finish third in the event.
