CONWAY, S.C. – Coastal Carolina football had a total of 12 former Chanticleers receive a chance to continue their playing careers professionally, a new program record.
The 12 Chants getting a shot at the next level is not only a new program record, but is also the most of any other school in the state of South Carolina, with the next closest school having seven as of May 5.
The 12 Chants include two players selected in the 2022 National Football League (NFL) Draft in
Isaiah Likely and
Jeffrey Gunter, while
Enock Makonzo became the first-ever player from Coastal Carolina to be chosen in the Canadian Football League (CFL) Draft.
Likely was selected in the fourth round by the Baltimore Ravens in the NFL Draft, while Gunter was chosen in the seventh round by the Cincinnati Bengals. Makonzo was selected as the No. 4 overall pick of the first round in the 2022 CFL Draft by the Edmonton Elks.

Shermari Jones (Cincinnati Bengals), and
Silas Kelly (Cleveland Browns) all signed as undrafted free agents following the 2022 NFL Draft, while
C.J. Brewer (New York Jets),
Kameron Brown (Tampa Bay Buccaneers),
Derick Bush (Chicago Bears),
Teddy Gallagher (Carolina Panthers),
Kendricks Gladney Jr. (Los Angeles Chargers), and
Alex Spillum (Green Bay Packers) all received invites to mini-camp.
