Golfer picked up All-Sun Belt and WGCA Academic All-America honors this season
CONWAY, S.C. – Coastal Carolina women's golfer Tiffany Arafi has been nominated for the 2022 NCAA Woman of the Year award, announced this week by the NCAA's Committee on Women's Athletics.
This is the 32nd year of the program, which honors academic achievement, athletics excellence, community service and leadership of outstanding female college athletes.
On the golf course, Arafi's accomplishments include three All-Sun Belt honors, including a first-team honor in 2021-22. She has also made two Sun Belt All-Tournament teams.
In 2021-22 she picked up three individual championships and set a program record with the lowest single-round score for a Chant with a round of 64, which she accomplished twice. She also set a school-best 15-under par 54-tournament score at the Buccaneer Classic and also holds CCU records for lowest 36-hole score (142) and a 54-hole score (201).
She led the Chanticleers to a second-place finish at the 2022 Sun Belt Women's Golf Championship, as well as to team wins at the Buccaneer Classic and the Golfweek/Any Given Tuesday Intercollegiate.
In the classroom, she has been equally impressive. Arafi is a four-time Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-America Scholar and has been named to the Sun Belt Conference Commissioner's List three times. She has also found herself named to both the CCU President's List and on the Dean's List during her academic career.
Conference offices will select their nominees for NCAA Woman of the Year which are then forwarded on to the NCAA Woman of the Year Selection Committee, which will identify 10 honorees in each of the three NCAA divisions. The selection committee will pick the three finalists in each division and will select the 2022 NCAA Woman of the Year from those final nine finalists who will be named during the NCAA Convention in January.
