CALI, Colombia – Coastal Carolina's
Mekenze Kelley ran the opening leg of the 4x400-meter relay team for Team USA in the first round of the relay event at the 2022 World Athletics U20 Championships on Friday afternoon, as she helped lead the Americans to a first-place finish with a time of 3:29.94.
Team USA's time was more than a full second ahead of the second-place team of Canada at 3:33.98.
Kelley and team USA will race in the finals of the 4x400-meter relay on Saturday, Aug. 6, at 6:20 p.m. ET.
Earlier this week at the Championships, Kelly turned in a time of 53.09 in the 400-meters semifinals to finish ninth overall for the event.
