Conway – The Coastal Carolina University men and women's cross country teams are set to host the Chanticleer Challenge on Friday, September 19th. The women will run the 5k at 5:00 ET and the men will run the 8k at 5:45 ET.
Men's Notes
- Coastal finished second overall in the 6k with five finishers inside the top 25 at the Elon Opener to begin the season.
- Adam Groves finished first in the men's 6k with a time of 18:19.8, ranking second in school history. He was named Sun Belt Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week following the performance.
- Freshman Jacob Barraza finished 10th with a time of 18:44.6.
Women's Notes
- The Chants finished fourth overall in the 4k with four finishers inside the top 25 at the Elon Opener.
- Olivia Fischlein was the top finisher in 16th place with a time of 14:17.4 in the 4k, setting a new school record.
- Addison Laughlin finished 19th with a time of 14:25.4.
Chanticleer Challenge Notes
- Coastal Carolina set the pace for the Chanticleer Challenge in 2024, winning both the men's and women's races.
- Adam Groves won the individual title in the men's 8k with a time of 25:07.7, setting a course record.
- Trey Kraimer finished second behind Groves with a time of 25:34.8.
- Seven of the top ten spots were occupied by the Chants in the men's race.
- Addison Laughlin captured first on the home soil last year with a time of 18:31.0 in the 5k.
- Jenna Lang placed sixth with a time of 19:19.2.
- Seven of the top eleven spots were filled with Chanticleers in the women's race.
