INDEPENDENCE, Minn. – Coastal Carolina University's men's golf team is tied for 11th after two rounds of the Gopher Invitational being played at the Windsong Farm Golf Club. The Chants finished the first day of action shooting an even-par 568.
Garrett Cooper led the Chants' efforts with an eight-under 134 (68-66) and will enter the final round tied for first place. The senior set career-bests with his five-under 71 in the second round, and his eight-under 134 is his best 54-hole score.
Owen Kim shot a one-over 143 (70-73) and is tied for 44th.
Seth Taylor (76-71) and
Tyler Gray (76-71) are tied for 67th after finishing with a five-over 147.
Connor Newton is tied for 76th after carding an eight-over 150 (73-77).
The 15-team championship is led by Rutgers, who stands 15-under 553 after two rounds. Michigan State is second with a 12-under 556. Kent State and Georgia Southern are tied for third with an 11-under 557. Furman rounds out the top five after a nine-under 559.
Baylor and Kansas are tied for sixth after scoring an eight-under 560, while Notre Dame (-6, 562), host Minnesota (-4, 564), and Yale (-2, 566) finish up the top 10.
CCU (E, 568) is tied with Arkansas State and Toledo, while West Virginia (+3, 571) and Iowa State (+6, 574) round out the field.
