Crenshaw Holds Lead after Second Round at Golfweek Challenge

Sophomore records five birdies on second nine
PAWLEYS ISLAND, S.C. – Coastal Carolina University's Trey Crenshaw continues to lead the Golfweek Fall Challenge after firing a four-under 68 in today's second-round action at the True Blue Golf Club in Pawleys Island, S.C.
The sophomore was able to hold the lead after firing a four-under 33 on the second nine holes, which included birdies on four of the last six holes. He enters tomorrow's final round of play holding a one-stroke lead with an 11-under 134 (66-68).
Alex van Wyk is tied for 34th with a one-under 145 (70-75) and Connor Newton is tied for 43rd with a three-over 147 (73-74).
The Chants are not competing for the team championship, which saw Jacksonville State blister the course with a 13-under par round to take over first place heading into the final round. The Gamecocks' 18-under 558 is two strokes better than first-round leader Presbyterian's 16-under 560.
Samford and Wright State are tied for third with a 13-under 563, while Gardner-Webb rounds out the top five with a six-under 570.
Temple leads off the second five with a two-under 574, with Delaware one stroke back at one-under 575. Southern Indiana and Tennessee Tech are tied for the eighth spot, each with a one-over 577, with Eastern Kentucky 10th at five-over 581.
Rounding out the field are Stephen F. Austin (+7, 583), Austin Peay (+17, 593), and Queens (+20, 596).
