NEW ORLEANS — Coastal Carolina had 162 student-athletes honored by the Sun Belt Conference for their work in the classroom last year with the yearly release of the Sun Belt Conference's Academic Commissioner's List and Honor Roll.
The 162 total student-athletes recognized includes 75 named to the Commissioner's List and 87 to the Honor Roll.
The women's golf team had all 10 of their student-athletes named to either the Commissioner's List or Honor Roll accolades, while the women's tennis team had all eight of their roster members recognized by the conference. The men's tennis team had seven of their nine student-athletes receive recognition from the Sun Belt Conference.
As a league, the Sun Belt Conference placed more than 2,000 student-athletes on the Commissioner's List and Academic Honor Roll for the 2021-22 school year. Those recognized included 1,145 student-athletes on the Commissioner's List and 868 student-athletes on the Academic Honor Roll.
The Commissioner's List honors student-athletes who earned a 3.5-grade point average (GPA) or better during the 2020-21 academic year, while the Academic Honor Roll honors those student-athletes who maintained a GPA between 3.00 and 3.49 for the academic year.
"We celebrate the academic achievements of these remarkable student-athletes," said Sun Belt Commissioner Keith Gill. "We're extremely proud of their ability to shine at academics while competing in their sports at the highest level."
All Sun Belt programs in the sports of women's cross country, women's golf, women's soccer, and volleyball boasted an average GPA of 3.0 or better.
Across the entire Sun Belt Conference, women's golf student-athletes recorded the highest collective GPA at 3.57, followed by women's tennis at 3.50.
