BALTIMORE, Md. – Coastal Carolina redshirt junior quarterback Grayson McCall has been named to the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Awards Top 25, The Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Educational Foundation, Inc., along with presenting sponsor A. O. Smith Corporation released on Friday, Sept. 30.
 
Through four games this season, McCall ranks in the top 25 in several offensive statistical categories and leads the Sun Belt Conference in passing efficiency (191.2), yards per pass attempt (10.21), points responsible for (78), and passing touchdowns (11).
 
He has completed 69-of-98 pass attempts for 1,001 yards, 11 touchdowns, and just one interception. He has also rushed 29 times for 91 yards and two scores on the season, all while leading the Chants to a perfect 4-0 start to the season.
 
The third-year starter made CCU history in the Chants' win at Georgia State (Sept. 22) last time out, as he competed a touchdown pass on the very first play of the game to extend his streak of consecutive games with a touchdown pass to 17-straight games.
 
The quarterbacks that remain in the hunt for this season's coveted Golden Arm Award represent eight of the 10 conferences and seven of them are returning top 25 nominees.
 
The candidates are selected by the distinguished Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Selection Committee, a group of prominent college football journalists, commentators, announcers, and former players. The award annually recognizes the top senior or upperclassman quarterback set to graduate with their class.
 
Candidates are chosen based on player performance on-and-off the field.
