CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina women's tennis team continued its homestand today at the Stevens Tennis Complex with the opening round of the CCU Battle at the Beach. 

CCU once again welcomed Wofford to Conway this weekend, a team the Lady Chants went 5-5 against in the Lynn Stevens Invitational on September 29-30, as well as College of Charleston and Charleston Southern. 

The Lady Chants opened today's play with a doubles matchup against Wofford. The Chants struggled early on, dropping three of their first four matches, with the pair of junior Nicole Abel and freshman Brooke Rogers coming away with the lone Coastal victory. 

Next up, CCU was pitted against Charleston Southern in their first singles outing of this weekend's tournament. The Lady Chants took four of six from the Buccaneers, each coming in straight sets. Senior Jesse Hollins continued her hot streak with another singles win. Juniors Anna Babayan and Abel also picked up wins against Charleston Southern, and freshman Aida Maria Mitrache recorded the first official win of her CCU career. 

To close out day one, Coastal was matched up against College of Charleston, once again in singles play. The Chanticleers took five of six in the final round, as Babayan, Hollins, Morin, Mitrache, and Katya Hersh each recorded another singles win. 

Round two of the CCU Battle at the Beach will begin tomorrow, starting with CCU taking on Charleston Southern in doubles play at 8:30 a.m. ET.
