Elon, N.C. – The Coastal Carolina women's tennis team concluded its final tournament of the fall season today at the Jimmy Powell Invitational.
After two full days of tournament play, Anna Babayan and Jesse Hollins took home a share of the doubles championships, along with UConn's Olivia Wright and Victoria Matos, and Nicole Abel claimed sole possession of the singles title with a perfect 3-0 record and 16 total points.
In the doubles bracket, the Lady Chants split four sets against both UNC Asheville and host Elon, going 4-4 on the day. Kata Foldeak and Aida Maria Mitrache and Cécile Morin and Isabella Weatherhead each defeated a pair of Bulldogs in the opening round. Later, Babayan and Hollins and Foldeak and Mitrache took down their opposition from Elon in the second round.
In the final round of the Jimmy Powell Invitational, and CCU's fall season, the Lady Chants were once again pitted against Elon in a singles matchup. Coastal took five of seven to close out this weekend's tournament, as Abel defeated Lizette Reding in route to her first singles title of 2023 the season.
