Coastal Carolina adds first team all-district guard from Texas
CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina women's basketball team signed Dawson Jemerson from DeSoto, Texas, on Wednesday.
A 5-4 combo guard for Red Oak High School, Jemerson led the Hawks to a 28-20 overall record in two years and back-to-back 12-0 seasons in the Red Oak Independent School District. She was named Red Oak Independent All-District first team. The Desoto, Texas, native will compete for the DeSoto Eagles for her senior season.
"Our staff is excited to welcome Dawson and her family to Coastal Carolina," said head coach Kevin Pederson. "Dawson is a natural fit for our program and someone that will represent Coastal WBB in a first-class manner on and off the court."
In 2022-23, Jemerson averaged 14.3 points per game while shooting 46.4 percent from the field and 34.7 percent from three-point range.
"As we continue to build our brand and establish the aggressive style of play we are looking for at Coastal Carolina, we believe Dawson moves the needle in the right direction," Pederson said. "She has an elite ability to create offense for herself and her teammates, pressure the ball ninety-four feet, and play multiple guard positions on the floor."
