GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Coastal Carolina men's tennis team continued its undefeated road season with a 6-1 win over the UNCG Spartans on Friday afternoon in Greensboro, N.C.
 
The Chanticleers moved to 6-2 overall on the season and 5-0 in road matches with the win. The Spartans fell to 1-6 on the season with the loss.
 
The home-standing Spartans took an early 1-0 match lead by winning the doubles point.
 
Coastal opened doubles play with a 6-3 win from the team of Lucas Wayenburg and Guilherme Toresan on court No. 3 before the Spartans' team of John Gabelic and David Flisberg tied the match up at 1-1 with a 6-4 win on court No. 1.
 
With the doubles point coming down to court No. 2, UNCG's Christopher Johns and Tymofiy Khrystyuk held off the Chants' duo of Maj Tomac and Ryuya Ata, winning the tiebreaker 8-6 and the match 7-6 (8-6).
 
The Chants were down but not out, as the visitors in Teal swept all six singles bouts.
 
Tomac got the Chants on the winning track, as he defeated Devon Moskowitz in straight-sets 6-4, 6-1 on court No. 4 to even the match up at 1-1.
 
The next five contests were all close until the very end, as Ata battled back from a second-set loss to win in three sets 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 over Khrystyuk on court No. 3 and Neil O'Connor won a second-set tiebreaker 7-2 to earn a 6-3, 7-6 (7-2) win over Johns on court No. 5.
 
With the Chants on top 3-1, Carlos Berna Ruiz was able to secure the match win with a strong effort on court No. 1 where he battled back from a 6-4 first-set loss to win 6-4 in the second set and 6-1 in the third for the 4-6, 6-4, 6-1 three-set win.
 
With the match decided in favor of the Chants, Coastal completed the sweep in singles action with a 6-3, 7-6 (13-11) victory on court No. 2 by Wayenburg and a 6-2, 5-7, 1-0 (10-7) tiebreaker win from Jesus Garcia on court No. 6 to put the final match score at 6-1.
 
The Chanticleers will return home to host NC Central on Saturday, March 4, at 2 p.m. ET and Longwood on Sunday, March 5, at 11 a.m. ET.
