ABOUT THE CHANTS
• Coastal Carolina will head into the first weekend of Sun Belt Conference play at 10-5 overall and only 0-1 in road games this season.
• CCU will be playing on the road for just the second time this season, as the Chants' suffered a 4-3 road loss at the College of Charleston on Feb. 28.
• In the Chants' 10 wins this season, they have scored double-digit runs in nine of them and have averaged 13.9 runs over those 10 wins on the year.
• As a team, the Chants are hitting .321 overall, which ranks 21st in all of NCAA Division I baseball, as eight different players are hitting over .325 on the season.
• Coastal's pitching staff has struck out 171 hitters compared to just 83 walks this season and posted an average of 11.5 strikeouts per nine innings on the year, which ranks 16th nationally.
ABOUT THE DUKES
• James Madison will enter its first-ever Sun Belt Conference series at 11-7 overall and 8-2 at home inside Veterans Memorial Park this year.
• James Madison was one of four teams, along with Southern Miss, Marshall, and Old Dominion, to join the Sun Belt Conference in the summer of 2022.
• The Dukes enter the weekend on a two-game win streak, winning back-to-back midweek road contests this week at VCU (March 14) and VMI (March 15).
• Offensively, the Dukes are hitting .309 overall as a team, which ranks third in the conference right behind Coastal, with 14 home runs, five triples, 40 doubles, 132 RBIs, and 146 runs scored.
• JMU's pitching staff has struck out 135 batters compared to just 84 walks, has allowed just 17 home runs, and has held their opponents to a .267 batting average on the season.
• The Dukes lead the conference in fielding percentage at .978, having committed just 14 errors overall on the year.
ALL-TIME SERIES HISTORY WITH THE DUKES
• The Chanticleers are 9-6 all-time versus James Madison, with 14 of the 15 matchups having come at home in Conway/Myrtle Beach, S.C.
• The two teams have played one neutral site game, as the Chants and Dukes opened the 2013 season at Sparrow Stadium on the campus of Francis Marion University in Florence, S.C.
• JMU won the last meeting between the two teams, an 11-3 win over the Chants on Feb. 19, 2017, as part of the 18th annual Caravelle Resort's Baseball at the Beach tournament.
• This weekend will mark the first time the Chants have played at James Madison in Harrisonburg, Va.

BACK TO THE COASTAL WAY
• The 2021 season was an uncharacteristic year for the Chanticleers in regards to conference play, as the Chants were just 9-12 in Sun Belt Conference action on the year.
• The nine conference victories were the fewest by a CCU team since the Chants recorded just five conference wins in the Big South in 1997, head coach
Gary Gilmore's second year at CCU.
• Coastal returned to its normal ways last season, going 21-8-1 in Sun Belt play on the season.
• CCU won seven of the 10 conference series and split one of the others by going 1-1-1 versus ULM (March 18-20, 2022) in the first conference weekend of the season.

ROAD TRIP
• The Chanticleers will be making just their second road trip of the season this weekend to James Madison, having played 14 of their first 15 games of the season at home in Springs Brooks Stadium.
• In Coastal's lone road game to date, the Chanticleers fell 4-3 at the College of Charleston (Feb. 28).
HOME AWAY FROM HOME
• Last season in conference play, the Chants felt right at home.
• In 2022, CCU went 12-3 overall on the road in Sun Belt Conference play, winning four of the five road series on the year.
• Coastal recorded three sweeps on the road in conference play, winning all three games at Arkansas State (April 1-3), at Appalachian State (April 14-16), and at Troy (May 13-15).
