WILMINGTON, N.C. – The Coastal Carolina University's men's golf team finished tied for 12th at the Seahawk Intercollegiate with a nine-over 873 for the tournament at the Country Club of Landfall in Wilmington, N.C.
The day started early for the field as the final few holes of the second round were completed after being suspended due to darkness late Sunday.
Seth Taylor placed in a tie for 10th after the senior finished with a six-under 210. He shot par or better all three rounds, going 72-68-70 for the tournament, including recording an eagle in both the first and second rounds. He was tied for 13th in par-3 scoring (3.00) and tied for sixth in par-4 scoring (3.93), while his two eagles were tied for the most over the 54-holes of play.
Connor Newton finished tied for 36th after shooting an even-par 216 (72-72-72). He finished each round with four birdies and four bogeys, while his 12 total birdies were tied for 22nd overall.
Owen Kim shot a six-over 222 (71-72-79) and finished tied for 58th.
Trey Crenshaw shot a 12-over 228 (78-75-75) to finish tied for 74th, while
Tyler Gray finished 81st after shooting a 15-over 231 (75-75-81).
TCU led from start to finish and wound up shooting a 21-under 843. Wright State made a seven-under run in today's third round but could not catch TCU and finished just one shot back at 20-under 844.
Host UNCW also played well, finishing the event at 19-under 845, while Sun Belt member James Madison and Stetson tied for fourth with each shooting a 14-under 850.
Campbell (-12, 852) finished sixth and was followed by Clemson (-8, 856), Charleston Southern (-4, 860), Davidson (E, 864), and Toledo (+1, 865).
CCU's neighbor to the north, Francis Marion, (+6, 870) finished three strokes in front of Coastal and Nebraska, as each finished with a team score of nine-over 873. The rest of the field included Maryland (+15, 879), Appalachian State (+30, 894), USC Upstate (+40, 904), and Georgetown (+43, 907).
CCU will be back in action on April 7-8 at the Stitch Intercollegiate hosted by North Carolina State at the Lonnie Poole Golf Club in Raleigh, N.C.
