Women’s Tennis has now won six-straight matches

CONWAY, S.C. – Behind singles wins from Lilie Steryous, Jesse Hollins, and Megan Hopton, the Coastal Carolina women's tennis team extended its winning streak to six-straight matches with a 4-2 win over No. 68 nationally-ranked Liberty on Thursday afternoon in Conway, S.C.

With the sixth consecutive win, the Chanticleers improved to 6-4 overall on the season. The loss dropped Liberty to 9-5 on the year.

The Chanticleers quickly picked up the first point of the match with a pair of wins in doubles play, as the duo of Hollins and Victoire De Samucewicz won 6-1 on court No. 3 over Esther Lovato and Marina Davtyan, while the team of Anna Babayan and Hopton won easily 6-2 over Maria Juliana Parra Romero and Alexandra Almborg on court No. 3.

Coastal added to its lead with back-to-back beat downs on courts No. 5 and 6, as Steryous defeated Bruna Sampaio 6-0, 6-0 on court No. 6, while Hollins followed with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Maretha Burger on court No. 5 to put the home team on top 3-0.

After Liberty scored wins on courts No. 4 and 2 to cut the Coastal lead to 3-2, Hopton ended the match with a 2-6, 6-3, 7-5 win on court No. 3 over Liberty's Tiffany Nguyen to seal the 4-2 win for the Chanticleers over the nationally-ranked Flames.

Coastal will remain at home for a doubleheader on Saturday, March 11, as the Chanticleers will take on Georgia Southern in Sun Belt Conference play at 10 a.m. ET before facing off with SCAD at 3 p.m. ET.
