Potok Named to CSC Academic All-District Baseball Team

Sophomore earned academic recognition
CONWAY, S.C. –Coastal Carolina baseball's Matthew Potok was named to the 2023 Academic All-District Baseball NCAA Division I team, selected by the College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA).
The academic teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America program separately recognizes baseball honorees in four divisions – NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and NAIA.
Student-athletes must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale).
A recreation and sport management major, Potok is in his second season with the Chanticleers, where he has been a part of the weekend starting rotation on the mound for the Men in Teal.
While battling injury this season, Potok is 3-3 on the year with a 6.17 ERA over 10 starts. He has struck out 48 batters over 42.1 innings and has walked just 12 hitters on the season.
Potok has thrown three quality starts this season at James Madison (March 19), versus Texas State (March 25), and against then-No. 23/24 Southern Miss (April 21), and has fanned six or more hitters in a game four times, including recording a career-high 10 strikeouts against the Bobcats.
The Academic All-District honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. First-, second, and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced on June 7.
