NEW ORLEANS – The Coastal Carolina women's and men's outdoor track & field teams had a total of nine Chanticleers earn All-Sun Belt Conference honors, the league office announced on Thursday, May 18.
On the women's side,
Alexis Glasco,
Kayla Sweeney,
Sydney Clemens, and
Amanda Kinloch garnered All-Sun Belt recognition. For the men's team,
Braydon Bennett, Deondre Hardy,
Albrey Gossett,
DeVonte Harris, and
Ashlund Dixon received all-conference honors.
To earn all-conference honors, student-athletes must finish in the top three of their respective events – first place (first team), second place (second team), and third place (third team).
The Sun Belt Champion in the 100-meter hurdles (13.06 (+3.4)), Glasco earned first-team All-Sun Belt honors.
On top of winning the gold medal in the 100-meter hurdles, Glasco raced to a runner-up finish with a personal-best time of 11.29 (+0.9) in the 100-meter finals and added another individual runner-up finish at the championships in the 400-meter hurdles with her time of 58.58.
Picking up second-team honors were Sweeney, Clemens, and Kinloch, as the trio joined Glasco to finish second overall in the 4x100-meter relay with a time of 44.61 at the conference championship meet.
On the men's side, Bennett and Hardy both earned a spot on the second team with runner-up finishes in the 110-meter hurdles and long jump events, respectively. Bennett placed second overall in the 110-meter hurdles with a new personal-best time of 13.84 (+1.3) and the third-fastest in CCU history, while Hardy won the silver medal in the long jump event with a personal-best leap of 7.26 meters.
Scoring third-team honors were Gossett, Harris, and Dixon, who along with Hardy, finished third overall with a season-best time of 40.39 in the 4x100-meter relay.
