Sharkey Named a Collegiate Baseball All-American

The junior has 10 saves and seven wins on the season
TUCSON, Ariz. – Junior relief pitcher Teddy Sharkey was named to the Collegiate Baseball NCAA Division I All-American second team, powered by Diamond Sports, it was announced today.
Named to the All-Sun Belt first team as the relief pitcher, Sharkey has been one of the most important players on the roster for the Chants this season.
Named to the NCBWA Stopper of the Year watch list and tabbed a Collegiate Baseball National Player of the Week on April 17, Sharkey is the only pitcher to rank in the top 10 in the Sun Belt Conference in both wins (7) and saves (10) this season.
The junior has pitched in 25 games for the Chants on the season, striking out 69 hitters over 47.0 innings of work out of the bullpen. He has posted a 2.68 ERA, a 1.09 WHIP, and held opponents to a .201 batting average on the year. Eight of his 10 saves have been 1.2 innings or longer, while in six of his seven wins, he threw 2.1 innings or more of the late innings in the contest.
In SBC play, Sharkey was 5-1 with two saves in 12 appearances and struck out 41 batters compared to just 10 walks over 26.0 innings.
