Ramsey Tabbed with Preseason Honors; Chants Picked Ninth in Preseason Poll

The Chanticleers will Central Michigan to open the season
NEW ORLEANS – The 2024-25 Coastal Carolina women's basketball team was picked to finish ninth in the 2024-25 Sun Belt Conference Women's Basketball Preseason Coaches Poll, as voted upon by the league's 14 head coaches, it was announced by the conference office in New Orleans, La. Additionally, Alancia Ramsey was named to as a Preseason All-Sun Belt third-team selection.
James Madison was selected to finish atop of the league with 191 total points and 12 first place votes, while Troy, with two first place votes, and Old Dominion followed with 169 and 167 points, respectively. ULM (150) and Louisiana (122) rounded out the top five.
Marshall was picked sixth with 118 and Southern Miss was seventh with 113 points. Georgia State (107), CCU (77), Texas State (67), App State (61), Georgia Southern (53), Arkansas State (50), and South Alabama (25) finished out the preseason poll.
In 2023-24, Ramsey started 27 of 33 games to average 24.6 minutes per game. The 6-0 forward is the leading scorer returning from last season's team, averaging 9.4 points per game. In rebounding, she was eighth in the SBC having grabbed 7.4 boards per game.
The Delray Beach, Fla., native scored in double digits 13 times with a season-high 23 versus the College of Charleston. Ramsey recorded four double-doubles on the season with her first career double-double coming in the third game of the season against South Carolina State with 17 points and 16 rebounds.
Coastal Carolina will open the season on the road as part of the MAC-SBC Challenge against Central Michigan on Nov. 4.
