NEW ORLEANS, La. -Â Coastal Carolina women's soccer student-athlete Eleanor Ashton was named Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season, the conference announced on Tuesday afternoon.
The Chanticleers have picked three SBC Player of the Week awards on the season to date after Vivienne Carr and Ashton won on Sept. 3 and Sept. 17, respectively . This marks the first time Coastal has had three player of the week recipients since 2017 when the Chants had four winners.
Ashton is the fifth Chant in program history to receive multiple player of the week honors in the same season. The last time a Chant achieved this feat was back in 2017 when Rylee Atteberry was a three-time Defensive Player of the Week honoree.
The freshman was in top form, recording two goals and one assist while posting a .750 shots-on-goal percentage during last week's action.
Ashton played a pivotal role in Coastal's first Sun Belt Conference win of the year versus Georgia Southern last Thursday. The forward belted a free kick off the crossbar and in during the eighth minute to give the Chants a 1-0 lead, then tallied the game-winning assist to secure the 2-1 victory.
In Coastal's second match of the week versus Southern Miss, Ashton recorded 71 minutes of playing time and bagged Coastal's fastest goal of the year in the fourth minute of action.
 Â
The Chanticleers return to action on Oct. 10 to take on the Appalchian State Mountaineers at 12 p.m. ET. The match was originally scheduled to take place in Boone, N.C., but has been relocated to Queens University in Charlotte, N.C., due to Hurricane Helene.
