No. 13 Coastal Carolina to Travel to NC State for Midweek Tilt

The Chants will be on the road for their next nine games

CONWAY, S.C. – The nationally-ranked No. 13 Coastal Carolina Chanticleers will travel to Raleigh, N.C., for a midweek tilt with the NC State Wolfpack from the Atlantic Coast Conference. The first pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. ET on March 19, at Doak Field at Dail Park.
 
After opening the season with 20 consecutive home games, the Chants will take to the road for their next nine contests.

6 p.m. ET – CCU - RHP Josh O'Neill (1-0, 4.11 ERA) vs. NC STATE – LHP Ryan Marohn (2-0, 4.24 ERA)
 
ABOUT THE CHANTS
• Coastal Carolina enters the week 17-3 overall and 2-1 in league play having had a 15-game winning streak snapped with a 7-4 SBC loss to JMU.
• The Chants defense has turned 25 double plays on the year, the most in the NCAA.
• Coastal has scored at least 10 runs in five of its last six games, including 17 in a win over No. 7 Wake Forest last week.
• CCU has outscored their opponents in the last five games 55-33, with 12 home runs, 11 doubles, and a triple including four home runs by Blake Barthol.
• Coastal has hit 44 home runs on the year as a team. Barthol leads the team, the Sun Belt, and is fourth in the NCAA with 12 home runs with Zack Beach second the team and the Sun Belt with nine bombs.
Derek Bender has reached base safely at least once in the 19 games he has played, including a current nine-game hitting streak.
Sam Antonacci has reached base via hit or walk in every game this season, while Barthol extended his streak of consecutive games reaching base to 17.
• Beach has a 17-game streak of reaching base safely, which includes having a hit in 15 of the 20 games he has played.
 
ABOUT THE WOLFPACK
 • NC State enters play with at 12-6 overall and a 3-3 record in the ACC. The Wolfpack have lost their last four games.
• The NC State pitching staff has allowed 28 home runs and has struck out 161 opposing batters and issued 119 free bases. Batters are hitting just .268 against the Wolfpack.
• The Wolfpacks' Ryan Marohn and Shane Van Dam anchor the pitching staff with 2-0 records. Marohn has thrown 17.0 innings, allowing nine runs on 21 hits with 19 strikeouts. Van Dam has allowed six runs on eight hits with 13 strikeouts.
• NC State is hitting .316 and have belted 30 home runs, three triples, and 34 doubles for 156 RBIs.
• The Wolfpacks' Garrett Pennington is hitting .408 with a 1.137 OPS, .620 slugging percentage, and a .517 on-base percentage. Pennington has blasted two home runs and nine doubles for 19 RBIs and has scored 22 times.
 
ALL-TIME SERIES HISTORY WITH NC STATE
• The Chanticleers trail the overall series 20-14 on the diamond, with the Wolfpack winning the lone meeting 16-4 in Springs Brooks Stadium last season
• The longest winning streak by CCU was three games from March 1989 to February 1990.
• The Chants and NC State first met in Conway, S.C., in March 1986 in a game that the Wolfpack won 8-4.
• NC State has won three of the last five meetings.
