STATESBORO, GA. - The Coastal Carolina women's tennis team (8-6, 2-2 SBC) returned to Sun Belt Conference play today in a 4-3 loss to the Georgia Southern Eagles (13-2, 2-1 SBC) at the Wallis Tennis Center in Statesboro, Ga.
The opening doubles point went to the Eagles by securing the No. 1 and No. 2 matchups. The No. 3 doubles match was left unfinished with Nicole Abel and Brooke Rogers leading Mackenzie Leopold and Sophie Wagemaker 5-3.
In singles, the Chants took the third, fourth and fifth seeded matches with seniors Jesse Hollins, Kata Foldeak and Cecile Morin coming away with Hollins and Foldeak each winning by scores of 6-2, 6-3 and Morin taking down Leopold 3-6, 6-2, 10-6. Hollins has now extended her singles winning streak to seven with today's win, while also moving her record across doubles and singles to 10-2 over the last three and a half weeks of play. Foldeak has won six of her last seven singles outings, giving her a total of eight for the season.
The Chants will return home for the start of a four-match homestand, as they face the South Alabama Jaguars on Friday, Mar. 29 and the Southern Miss Golden Eagles on Saturday, Mar. 30 at the Stevens Tennis Complex.
