Chants Come From Behind in 4-3 Win Over South Alabama

CONWAY, S.C. - The Coastal Carolina women's tennis team (9-6, 3-2 SBC) defeated the South Alabama Jaguars (10-4, 3-2 SBC) 4-3 today at the Stevens Tennis Complex in part one of a Sun Belt Conference double feature this weekend. 

The Jaguars took an early 1-0 lead after taking the opening doubles point. Coastal dropped the No. 1 and No. 3 doubles matches. The third-seeded match was left unfinished with Kata Foldeak and Cecile Morin leading USA's Manal Ennaciri and Nikola Novotona 5-2. 

The Chants recovered in singles play, taking four of six over South Alabama, with three coming in straight sets. Anna Babayan, Jesse Hollins and Foldeak each secured their singles win in the second set, with Babayan defeating USA's No. 2 Elysia Pool 7-6, 6-1, Hollins besting the No. 3 Nikola Novotna 6-1, 6-1 and Foldeak beating the No. 4 Manal Ennaciri 7-6, 6-2. With the wins today, Hollins and Foldeak extended their singles winning streaks to eight and four, respectively. 

The Chants are back in action tomorrow morning at the Stevens Tennis Complex, as they take on the Southern Miss Golden Eagles at 10 A.M. ET.
