CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina softball team will host its fourth and final home tournament at St. John Stadium, March 8-10. The Chanticleers will welcome George Mason, Ohio, and Boston to the Beach Chicken Brawl.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
George Mason
- GMU has a 7-10 overall record on the year.
- Rachel Warrens leads the team with a .370 batting average, recording 20 hits, 12 runs, and 12 RBI on the year.
- The Patriots rotate between three pitchers in Kylie Wilkerson, Harlow Nigh, and Carly Cooper. The three have combined to record 54 strikeouts so far this season.
Ohio
- Ohio has an 11-8 record on the season and is on a three-game losing streak after falling to Saint Louis and twice to Indiana State.
- Ohio and CCU have shared common opponents in Michigan State and Penn State. Both teams picked up wins over the Spartans and fell to the Nittany Lions.
- Skipp Miller has earned MAC Pitcher of the Week honors two times this season and leads the team with a 2.28 ERA and 37 strikeouts.
- Yasmine Logan leads the team with 14 RBI and the senior has recorded three home runs and three doubles on the year.
Boston
- The Terriers are having their best start to a season in program history posting a 13-1 record.
- Boston is currently ranked No. 24 in the D1Softball poll and is receiving votes in the ESPN.com/USA Softball poll.
- The Terriers' lone loss came in their last game against No. 6/8 Duke, 4-2.
- All three Terrier pitchers have thrown a no-hitter while at BU.
- Kasey Ricard tops the pitching staff with a 1.27 ERA and has recorded 53 strikeouts in her 44.0 innings of work. The sophomore also earned NFCA and D1Softball Pitcher of the Week Honors on Feb. 20.
- Lizzy Avery boasts an impressive .514 batting average, recording 18 hits and 10 RBIs on the season to date.
HISTORY AGAINST
George Mason
- Coastal has a 20-2 record versus GMU and has won nine of the last 10 matchups.
- CCU has an undefeated home record against the Patriots, going 12-0 at St. John Stadium.
- Head coach Kelley Green has a 1-0 record versus George Mason.
- The Chanticleers earned a 4-3 win in the last meeting in the series in February 2012.
Ohio
- CCU has a 3-3 record versus Ohio.
- The Chants will look to improve on their 1-1 home record versus the Bobcats.
- Their first matchup came in 1989 when the Chants suffered a 4-3 defeat.
- Coastal has outscored the Bobcats 38-30 over their six encounters.
Boston
- The Chanticleers own a 1-1 record versus BU.
- In the last meeting, Coastal shut out the Terriers 6-0, with current Director of Operations Michaela McAuley tallying one of those runs for the Chants.
