Chants Lead After Day One of Myrtle Beach Challenge

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - The Coastal Carolina men's and women's track and field teams began completion today at the Myrtle Beach Collegiate Challenge at Doug Shaw Stadium in Myrtle Beach, S.C. 

Today, the Chants recorded 12 top-place finishes, including sophomore AJ McKay Jr. And freshman Ebba Hedberg finishing first and third, respectively, in overall point totals and the MVP report.  

Mckay Jr. finished the day as the top male performer, claiming the top spot in the men's triple jump with a 14.32m final distance, as well as second place in the long jump at 6.88m. Hedberg closed out day one second on the female performance list, finishing third in both the women's high jump and 100m hurdles finals and fifth in the javelin throw at 36.04m. 

The Myrtle Beach Collegiate Challenge will continue tomorrow at Doug Shaw Stadium, starting with a pair of men's and women's track and field events at 9 A.M. ET.
