Match Recap: Men's Tennis |

Chants Defeat Mount Olive 6-1 on Senior Day

CONWAY, S.C. - The Coastal Carolina men's tennis team (8-11, 2-4 SBC) defeated the Mount Olive Trojans (11-3, 3-1 CC) 6-1 in its final home match of the spring season today at the Stevens Tennis Complex. 

The Chants dominated doubles play, taking the opening point by winning the second and third-seeded matchups by scores of 6-4 and 6-1. Second seed Maj Tomac and Eric Tripathi defeated the Trojans' Lenn Hoffman and Bram Poel and Ryuya Ata and Jesus Garcia bested the No. 3-seed Niklas Gruenefeldt and Adam Ibrahim, giving CCU a 1-0 lead heading into singles play. 

Coastal continued their dominance in singles, winning five of the six matches, with four coming in straight sets. Juan Cruz Collardin, Tripathi, Garcia and Rivers Cahill all secured a win in the second set. Ata and Lucas Wayenburg were forced into a final set tiebreaker in the first and second-seeded matches. Ata came away with a 10-7 win over the Trojans' No. 1 Niklas Gruenefeldt and Wayenburg fell to the No. 2 seed Kristoffer Dalbak 10-7.  

Following this most recent homestand, the Chants close out the regular season with back-to-back road matches, starting with a matchup against the South Alabama Jaguas in Mobile, Ala. on Saturday, Apr. 13 at 11 A.M. ET.
