Rome, Ga. - The Coastal Carolina women's tennis team (14-8, 7-4 SBC) defeated Southern Miss (5-15, 0-10 SBC) in a 4-0 sweep of the Golden Eagles today in the second round of the Sun Belt Conference Tournament in Rome, Ga. 

The Chants opened match play by winning the doubles point, taking an early 1-0 lead into singles play. Coastal's Nicole Abel and Aida Maria Mitrache opened the scoring with a 6-2 win in the third-seeded match over USM's Angelina Blinova and Malannia Vashkevich. The Golden Eagles' Suhana Das and Zenn Lim later equalized, defeating CCU's Kata Foldeak and Cecile Morin 6-4 in the No. 2 spot.  

The doubles point came down to the No. 1 seeds, Anna Babayan and Jesse Hollins for Coastal and Alyssa Richter and Hannah Chambers for Southern Miss. The Golden Eagles No. 1 pairing fought back from an early 4-1 deficit to go up 5-4 for match point. Babayan and Hollins countered by sending the match into a tiebreaker, winning 8-6 to seal the match's first point for the Chants. 

In singles, Hollins improved Coastal's lead to two with a straight set, 6-3, 6-2 win over Southern Miss's No. 3 seed Das. Morin and Mitrache completed the second-round sweep, with Morin defeating the No. 5 seed Blinova 6-2, 6-2 and Mitrache besting the No. 6 seed Vashkevich 6-4, 6-1 to clinch the 4-0 victory. 

With the win over Southern Miss, Coastal advances to the quarterfinals of the Sun Belt Conference Tournament where they will face the No. 4 seed South Alabama Jaguars (15-4, 8-2 SBC) tomorrow at 10 A.M. ET at the Rome Tennis Center.
