CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina women's soccer program will welcome 11 signees for the 2024 season, head coach Jo Chubb announced on Monday afternoon.
The incoming class will consist of true freshmen Aris Lamanna, Camryn McKee, Tahlia Voskanian, Lauryn Barringer, Silje Nilsen, Eefje Botjer, Dolcie O'Connor, Olivia Goretski, Ashlyn Yasurek, Yasmin Azar, and Eleanor Ashton.
"We are extremely excited to welcome our first true freshman class to the beach this fall. We feel it is a group that combined have a multitude of skillsets that will allow us to compete and be a little unpredictable at times," stated Chubb. "Our long-term goal as a staff is to build sustainable success here at Coastal and we believe this group is a wonderful start to doing so. As well as being a fantastic set of players, they are even better people, and will no doubt enhance our ever-growing culture to benefit us both on and off the pitch."
Aris Lamanna
Lamanna is a four-year letterman from Franklin Regional High School, Pa. She is a three-time All-PIAA Section recipient and a three-time All-WPIAL selection (2021, 2022, and 2023). During her high school career, she led her team to the Section 3A championship title (2021) and picked up PSCA All-State honors (2023). The Murrysville, Pa., native was also named Westmoreland Girls Soccer Player of the Year (2023) along with the FR Girls Defensive Player of the Year (2021-22)
Chubb on Lamanna:
"Aris is one of the first players that we actively recruited when first getting here. She has all the attributes to be a fantastic goalkeeper in the Sun Belt for years to come. We are very excited to welcome her to our already strong goalkeeping union."
Camryn McKee
McKee joins the Chanticleer squad after a stellar high school career in which she was a two-time conference champion (2022 and 2024), a three-time all-conference and all-region recipient (2022-24), and a West 4A Regional champion (2024). The Indian Land, S.C., native also captained her team to the 2024 North Carolina State Championship title.
Chubb on McKee:
"Cam is a recent high school State champ, who naturally takes on a leadership role. She is a player that her teams have always been able to rely on and we do not believe we will be any different. We are excited to add her technical ability, and composure to our midfield."
Tahlia Voskanian
Voskanian played for six seasons with the SD Raiders and captained the squad for five years. The Sydney, Australia, native has displayed her talent on the national and international level as she was selected for the New South Wales soccer team (2018-19) along with the Armenian National team (2023-pres.).
Chubb on Voskanian:
"Voski brings a real composure and calmness to us when we have the ball but will be tenacious in her pursuit of the ball out of possession. She holds herself to incredibly high standards and will immediately look to become a leader on this team. We can't wait for her to get started."
Lauryn Barringer
Barringer joins the Chants after an impressive high school career in which she was a two-time OCC champion (2020 and 2022), a 2022 regional and district champion, and a Most Valuable Player (2023) and Most Valuable Attacker recipient (2022). The Lewis Center, Ohio, native was named to the OCC Central and All-District first-team (2023) as well as an All-State second-team selection (2023).
Chubb on Barringer:
"Lauryn is an incredibly versatile player, able to play most positions on the field. She is incredibly coachable and a player who has a ton of potential to thrive in our system. We are looking forward to watching her adapt and grow here at Coastal."
Silje Nilsen
Nilsen is one of four international student-athletes to join the 2024 Chanticleer squad. The Kevernaland, Norway, native spent most of her career with Froyland IL where she captained the team during her final three years (2010-21). Nilsen was then selected to play for the Bryne FK first team (2021-24) who compete in the second professional division of Norwegian football.
Chubb on Nilsen
"Silje was a later pick-up for us and an addition we are extremely excited about. She has a tremendous level of technical ability and real intelligence in her game. Her decision-making in all phases of play is exceptional and I think will become a real asset to us as a group."
Eefje Botjer
Botjer will travel across the world from Schiffdorf, Germany to join the Chanticleers for the 2024 season. The defender played for Werden Bremen in 2022-23 and competed against the highest level of competition in Germany's top league, the Bundesliga.
Chubb on Botjer:
"Eefje is a player that we are very excited to add to our backline. She exudes a real composure in all aspects of her game. She will be pivotal in the way we want to play both in and out of possession. We cannot wait to welcome her to the beach."
Dolcie O'Connor
O'Connor is another international addition to the 2024 roster as she joins the beach from Oldham, England where she played for Manchester City for the 2022-23 and 2023-24 seasons. Before that O'Connor played for the Ashton Pumas and helped lead them to back-to-back league titles during the 2020-21 and 2021-22 seasons.
Chubb on O'Connor:
"Dolcie is a player that is so exciting to watch. She has tremendous technical ability, a real intelligence about her game, and a fantastic left foot. She can score goals, as well as create from numerous positions. We can't wait for her to get started."
Olivia Goretski
Goretski is a four-year letterman and has picked up many accolades during her high school career, which include two conference championships (2022 and 2023), four all-conference selections (2020, 2021, 2022, and 2024), a district championship title (2023), and an all-state selection (2023). The Dillsburg, Pa., native, also garnered All-Sentinel Player of the Year honors in back-to-back years (2022 and 2023) and holds the Northern York High School record in career goals (100).
Chubb on Goretski:
"Liv offers a skillset that we don't currently have on the team and for us that's incredibly exciting. It allows us to prepare for opponents in different ways and have an unpredictability to us. We think Liv will prove to be a real handful offensively and will have a tremendous work rate on the opposing side of the ball. We cannot wait to add her liveliness to the group."
Ashlyn Yasurek
Yasurek is a four-year letterman and boasts an impressive high school career, leading her team to back-to-back conference titles (2022 and 2023) while also being named to the all-region and all-state team in 2022. After leading the team in goals and assists her talent was recognized and she was selected for the National Team ID camp.
Chubb on Yasurek:
"Ashlyn is a player that we feel is unpredictable in nature which we see as a real positive. She is direct and loves to dribble at players and thrives in 1v1 situations. We are looking forward to seeing Ashlynn adapt to the levels of the Sun Belt."
Yasmin Azar
Azar is a multi-sport athlete lettering in soccer and track & field and was named a top 200 player by TopDrawerSoccer. The Folsom, Calif., native was a 2024 section champion and led her team to three Delta League Conference championship titles (2021, 2022, and 2023) while garnering Delta League MVP honor (2024). The forward also scored the game-winning goal to win the 2024 state championship.
Chubb on Azar:
"Yaz is a player we had also been chasing for a while. She is very well coached and has been part of a successful San Juan team, which will put her in great stead when she arrives. She is a player that has great pace and athleticism, with an in-game intelligence to match. Her versatility and willingness to learn will be some of many great attributes she adds to this group."
Eleanor Ashton
Ashton is Chubb's second English signee to join the 2024 Chanticleer squad. Before moving to the States Ashton played at Manchester United for 14 years and played on loan at Derby County for one season. In 2022 she won the league and FA Youth Cup with Manchester United and went on to win the FA plate with Derby County in 2023.
Chubb on Ashton:
"Ele is a player we had been chasing for a long time. She is a proven goal scorer with national team experience. She is versatile in the positions she can play, which is a great benefit for the team. We can't wait to welcome her goals to the beach."
The Chanticleers will kick off the 2024 season at home versus Richmond on Aug. 15.
