Ashton Named Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Week

NEW ORLEANS, La. - Coastal Carolina women's soccer student-athlete Eleanor Ashton was named Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday afternoon.
Ashton is the second Chant to receive SBC Player of the Week honors this season after Vivienne Carr was named Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 3. This marks the first time since 2020 that Coastal has had two players receive this honor in the same season.
The freshman had a stellar week for the Chants, recording two goals and one assist. She netted two goals in Coastal's shutout win over UNCG, making her the first CCU player to record a multi-goal match since October 2022.
The Manchester, England, native logged 101 minutes of action on the week and recorded her first assist of the year to help the Chants secure a 3-1 win over Davidson.
Ashton is the first freshman to receive this honor since Rylee Atteberry, who won Defensive Player of the Week three times in 2017.
The Chanticleers will be back in action on Sept. 20 to open Sun Belt Conference play against Old Dominion in Norfolk, Va. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. ET.
