CONWAY, S.C. – Coastal Carolina quarterback
Ethan Vasko was named Sun Belt Conference Offensive Player of the Week by the league office Monday, Sept. 2, for his performance in the season opener at Jacksonville State.
Vasko, a redshirt sophomore from Chesapeake, Va., accounted for 288 yards of total offense and three touchdowns in Coastal Carolina's 55-27 win. He went 12-of-19 through the air for a 249 yards and two touchdowns, a 36-yard pass to wide receiver
Tray Taylor and a 37-yard strike to wide receiver
Jameson Tucker.
Vasko also added to the Chanticleer rushing attack with 12 carries for 39 yards and a four-yard touchdown.
The honor is Vasko's first career SBC Offensive Player of the Week award and the 12th in program history for the Chants. Vasko joins
Grayson McCall as the only Chanticleer quarterbacks to earn SBC Offensive Player of the Week honors. Vasko is the first Chant to win the award in the first week of the season since Osharmar Abercrombie in 2017.
