HARRISONBURG, Va. ---- Coastal Carolina women's basketball dropped a 76-69 game to James Madison University on Sunday afternoon inside Atlantic Union Bank Center. Coastal led for more than 27 minutes before the Dukes raced back to remain undefeated in conference play this season.

With the result, JMU improved to 17-4 (9-0 Sun Belt Conference) while Coastal moved to 13-6 (4-5).

The Chanticleers held a 59-55 lead through three quarters of action and later were up, 61-59, at the 8:47 mark in the final period. JMU closed the contest on a 17-8 run to secure the win.

Free throws proved to be the difference in the contest with James Madison hitting 22 in contrast to CCU's 11. Coastal dominated the paint in the Sunday matinee with a 36-26 advantage.

Jayden Marable led the way with a team-best 20 points on 9-of-14 shooting and six rebounds.
Savannah Brooks added 16 while
Alancia Ramsey just barely missed out on a double-double with eight points and 13 rebounds.

Coastal Carolina returns home for a pair of home games next week starting Wednesday, Jan. 29, against Marshall at 6 p.m. The contest will serve as Coastal's "Teal Out" night as the first 100 CCU students will receive a free teal jersey. Fans can also purchase them

The Chanticleers close the home week on Saturday, Feb. 1, when they play host to Louisiana at 1 p.m. inside the HTC Center. Fans are encouraged to stay in their seats at halftime to watch a scrimmage featuring local Special Olympic athletes.
