FOLEY, ALA. – The Coastal Carolina men and women's cross country team travels to Foley, Ala. for the Sun Belt Conference Championships on Friday. The women are set to run the 5k at 9:30 a.m. ET while the men run the 8k at 10:15 a.m. ET. Both championships will air live on ESPN+.
Men's Notes
- Junior Adam Groves has quickly emerged as one of the best runners in the conference, winning each of the first two events of the season (Elon Opener 6k and Chanticleer Challenge 8k).
- Groves ran the third-quickest 8k in school history with his win in the Chanticleer Challenge on Sept. 19 (23:28.27).
- Groves has picked up two Sun Belt Conference Runner of the Week honors this season.
- Freshman Thomas Nitz finished 4th in the Chanticleer Challenge 8k with a time of 24:18.06.
- Freshman Jacob Barazza finished 10th in the Elon Opener 6k with a time of (18:44.6)
Women's Notes
- Sophomore Addison Laughlin was the top Coastal finisher in two out of the three events this season placing fifth in the Chanticleer Challenge and 11th in the Fire Tower Project Run.
- Laughlin picked up Sun Belt Conference Runner of the Week honors after posting a 17:41.74 in the Chanticleer Challenge.
- Olivia Fischlein was the top Coastal finisher in the Elon Opener in 16th with a 14:17.4.
- Fischlein finished behind Laughlin in sixth at 17:45.35 in the Chanticleer Challenge and 17th at 22:13.1 in the Fire Tower Project Run.
