JACKSONVILLE, Ala. — Despite erasing a 20-point deficit, Coastal Carolina's comeback came up short Friday night in a 74–67 loss to Jacksonville State.
Less than 13 minutes into the game, the Gamecocks surged ahead 26–6. The Chanticleers responded behind the play of Joshua Beadle, who scored a team-high 20 points and helped spark the rally. Coastal closed the first half — and opened the second — on a 16–4 run, eventually pulling even at 40–40.
With under five minutes remaining and Jacksonville State clinging to a 58–56 lead, AC Bryant buried a three-pointer that ignited an 18–9 Gamecock run over the final 5:09.
Rasheed Jones finished with 14 points, six rebounds, and three assists, while Tristian Thompson added 12 points and seven rebounds off the bench. The Chanticleers shot a season-best 94 percent from the free-throw line (15-of-16) and out-rebounded the Gamecocks 41–37.
Coastal Carolina now turns its attention to the Western Illinois MTE next week in Macomb, Ill. The Chants face Western Illinois on Friday, Nov. 21 at 7 p.m. ET, followed by North Dakota on Saturday, Nov. 22 at 7 p.m. ET.
