Volleyball Season Comes To A Close Against Texas State

FOLEY, Ala. — Coastal Carolina pushed Texas State to the brink in every set, but the Chanticleers saw their season come to a close Friday afternoon with a 3–0 loss in the quarterfinals of the 2025 Sun Belt Conference Championship at the Foley Event Center.
Texas State won by scores of 25–21, 25–21 and 26–24, but the match was far tighter than the sweep suggests. All three frames stayed within four points, and the third set went to extra points as Coastal rallied to tie it 24–24 before the Bobcats finished with consecutive kills.
Jalyn Stout turned in one of her most efficient outings of the season, posting 13 kills on .476 hitting to go with 10 digs and 10 assists for a triple-threat performance.
The Chanticleers (18–11) were strong defensively at the net, finishing with 13 blocks — matching Texas State — and recording eight blocks in the second set alone, one of their best single-set totals of the year. Anna Rita and Emily Fowler combined for 11 total blocks, while Emma Van Elslande added five.
Coastal also received steady production from setter Ava Wallis, who handed out 19 assists and seven digs, and from Stout, who contributed another 10 assists as the Chants worked to keep the offense balanced during extended rallies.
Defensively, Coastal posted 32 digs, led by Stout and Bailee Earnhardt, who had nine, helping the Chants stay within striking distance throughout a match that featured 18 ties and 10 lead changes.
Texas State (17–11) was led by Jade Defraeye's 11 kills on .588 hitting and nine blocks, while Samantha Wunsch and Maggie Walsh added eight kills each. The Bobcats hit .293 in the final set to hold off Coastal's late surge.
