CONWAY – Coastal Carolina women's basketball dropped their season-opener 63-53 on Monday night at the HTC Center. The Chants dropped to 0-1 to begin the season.

COASTAL LEADERS
In her first game with Coastal, Tessa Grady finished as the leading scorer with 13 points in her 21 minutes.
Also in her Coastal debut, Tateyoina Harris grabbed a team-high 13 rebounds.

GAME RECAP
Grady began the scoring with a made three-pointer to give the Chants an early lead. Both teams traded points until the RedHawks took a 9-7 lead off a made three by Amber Scalia with 5:55 left in the first. Coastal grabbed the lead back and ended the first quarter with an 18-14 lead.

The RedHawks cut the lead down to one in the second quarter and proceeded to close the period out on a 15-2 run to take a 35-22 lead into halftime.

Miami (OH) stretched their lead to 50-29 with 2:12 left in the third quarter before Coastal scored the final 10 points of the period to enter the fourth down 50-39.

A three-pointer by Williams cut the RedHawks' lead to six early in the fourth. After both teams traded buckets, Grady knocked down a long-range shot with just-inside five minutes to play to make it a four-point deficit. Miami (OH) then scored 10 of the final 14 points to make the final 63-53.

TEAM STATS
Coastal shot 29 percent from the field, going 16-55. The Chants made seven of their 29 three-point attempts, finishing at 24 percent. Miami (OH) outrebounded Coastal 41-39 while shooting 37 percent from the field and 32 percent from long-range

Both teams finished with 26 turnovers for the contest.
