CONWAY, S.C. — Riley Eikhoff pulled some 2023 magic out of his bag and the Coastal Carolina offense scored seven runs in the seventh to propel the Chanticleers to an 11-1 over Washington as Baseball at the Beach continued Saturday at Springs Brooks Stadium.
Eikhoff went the distance, scattering four hits and a home run over seven innings, striking out three. He now possesses the last two complete games for Coastal, dating back to his complete-game win over UNCW in the 2023 NCAA Conway Regional. The binder between the two games was Eikhoff didn't surrender a walk in either effort.
Coastal's (3-0) offense backed him with 12 hits, including homers from
Dean Mihos,
Walker Mitchell and
Blake Barthol.
The Chanticleers took a 2-0 lead in the third when Mihos launched a two-run homer to left-center. They added another in the fourth on a
Colby Thorndyke RBI double before breaking the game open in the sixth. Barthol started the seven-run outburst with a solo homer, and Mitchell capped it with a two-run shot to left-center.
Washington (2-1) struggled at the plate, managing just four hits. Casen Taggart provided the Huskies' lone run with a solo home run in the seventh. Starter Tommy Brandenburg (0-1) took the loss, surrendering three runs on five hits over five innings.
The game ended after seven innings due to the 10-run rule.

Coastal closes out Baseball at the Beach with a 3:30 p.m. ET matchup against Kansas State at Springs Brooks Stadium. Saint Joseph's and Washington will start off Monday with a 10:30 a.m. first pitch for both squads final game of the tournament.
