CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina softball team run-ruled the UNCW Seahawks 9-0 at St. John Stadium on Tuesday afternoon.
The Chants started the game hot after a
Keirstin Roose single scored
Delaney Keith, and a bases-loaded walk from
Brie Normandin brought home another run, making the score 2-0.
The offensive attack continued in the second inning when Keith smashed an RBI single to right field to score
Clara Hudgens and extend Coastal's lead to 3-0.
The Chanticleers continued to push across runs in the bottom of the third, as a walk and a hit-by-pitch allowed two more runs to score, pushing the Chants in front 5-0.
The third-inning scoring spree did not stop, as
Libby Pippin crushed a two-run single to right field, and Keith doubled to center field to drive in two more runs to give the Chants the 9-0 run-rule victory.
With the win,
Abby Henderson improved to 7-3 on the season, striking out three batters in 4.0 scoreless innings.
The Chanticleers return home for their first Sun Belt Conference series against Texas State on March 21-23.
