CONWAY, S.C. – Coastal Carolina secured a series sweep over Rutgers with a 6-1 victory on Sunday at Springs Brooks Stadium, improving to 10-2 on the season.
The Chanticleers used a four-run third inning to seize control and never looked back.
Dean Mihos and
Jake Books each doubled, while
Walker Mitchell went 3-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored.
Caden Bodine added an RBI single as Coastal capitalized on Rutgers' miscues, including a wild pitch and a passed ball, to plate additional runs.
On the mound,
Riley Eikhoff (3-0) delivered another strong start, allowing just one run on four hits over seven innings while striking out five.
Ryan Lynch and
Scott Doran combined for two scoreless innings in relief.
Rutgers (4-7) scored its lone run in the first inning on an RBI single from Nick Tomasetto, but the Scarlet Knights managed just two hits the rest of the way. Starter Preston Prince (0-1) took the loss, surrendering four runs in 2 2/3 innings.

Coastal heads out on the road for a four-game stretch, beginning with a matchup at North Carolina on Tuesday before a weekend series at East Carolina. Tuesday's game starts at 4 p.m. ET while the Friday-Sunday matchups will begin at 4 p.m., 2 p.m. and 1 p.m., respectively.
