CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina softball team dropped the first game of the series to the James Madison Dukes, 8-0, on Friday evening at St. John Stadium.
The Dukes capitalized on a leadoff error in the top of the second inning when Jasmine Hull hit an RBI double to make the score 1-0. Later in the inning, Raegan Wall lined an RBI single and Lily Romero hit a two-run home run to extend the lead to 4-0.
JMU once again took advantage of an error to add another run in the top of the third, widening the lead to 5-0.
Payton List hit a solo home run over the left-field wall in the top of the fourth inning to put the Dukes up 6-0.
James Madison sealed the run-rule victory in the top of the fifth, scoring on an RBI double and a sacrifice fly to take the win, 8-0.
Nicolette Picone took the loss, falling to 22-7 on the season.
