Lacrosse Rolls Past Kennesaw State, 22-12, to Close Regular Season

KENNESAW, Ga. – Sydney McClure, Maddie Bates, and Alyson Mascolo each scored four goals to lead Coastal Carolina to a 22-12 win over Kennesaw State in ASUN women's lacrosse action Friday afternoon at Fifth Third Bank Stadium.
 
Brigid Cardillo dished out a team-high six assists as the Chanticleers (7-9, 3-3 ASUN) closed out the regular season with their highest goal total of the year. Coastal Carolina outshot the Owls 33-20 and committed just eight turnovers, tying a season low.
 
The Chanticleers took control early, using a 6-2 first quarter to build a lead they would not relinquish. McClure finished with four goals and two assists, while Bates added a career-high four goals on four shots. Mascolo scored all four of her goals in the first three quarters and added two draw controls.
 
Gabrielle Beaudet tallied three goals, including a pair of free-position conversions, and Evelyn Kitchin contributed two goals and two assists. Alexandra Horn, Samantha Paglino, Sophie Kingsborough, and Ryan Bionda each added goals in a balanced Chanticleer attack.
 
Coastal won the ground ball battle 15-10 and completed all 14 of its clear attempts. Charlotte Sadler made two saves to earn the win in goal before giving way to Kylie Pastor in the fourth quarter.
 
Lexi Tinker led Kennesaw State (5-11, 1-5 ASUN) with four goals, while Shannon Harrington added three. The Owls were 4-of-7 on free-position shots but could not keep pace after falling behind early.
 
UP NEXT
Coastal will turn into interested spectators for the final ASUN game of the season tomorrow. If Lindenwood defeats Queens, the Chanticleers clinch the No. 4 seed in next week's ASUN Tournament in Lynchburg, Va. If Queens wins, Lindenwood, Coastal Carolina and Queens would finish in a three-way tie and the tiebreaker will be the final regular-season RPI. As of Friday, April 25, Lindenwood (64) and Coastal (79) would qualify over Queens (89).
